Burslem Pottery produces hand-crafted stoneware ceramics in Stoke on Trent, in the county of Staffordshire, England. The company is acclaimed and admired for its startling range of ware, producing unique designs and pieces, many inspired by the grotesques of the world famous Martin Brothers. Writer Arnold Bennett (1867-1931) characterised his birthplace as ' the five towns' in his novels. The city is actually made up of six towns, and as the birthplace of serious pottery production in the potteries,Burslemis known as the Mothertown. Reflecting on the potter's craft in the Anna of Five Towns (1902), Bennett wrote.....'this supermercy of the most ancient of crafts is in the secert nature of things, and cannot be explained;
We began by producing the models of grotesque birds and animals that were inspired by the Martin Brothers,and modelled by Andrew Hull.
We're also producing hand drawn and hand painted vases,because of the methods we employ,and the fact that Burslem Pottery consists of a workforce of two people,we can't produce our pottery in large numbers,and it also means that no two vases can ever be the same.
Burslem Pottery offers fine ceramic art.Wether you are looking for that special unique gift or you are interested in starting your collection.
