Archie Inspired by the Martin Brothers pottery

Archie, the kingfisher is the cad of the collection. He is a ladies' man, who uses his speed and good looks to ensure that he is always the centre of attention. A Martin brothers inspired grotesque sculpture of a wally bird in high fired stoneware, by Burslem Pottery designed by Andrew Hull. Martin Brothers produced pottery between 1873 and1914, Martinware was described as art pottery, one of the earliest potteries making this, but in modern terms they fit better into studio pottery which was invented later.
