Boris Dark inspired by the Martin brothers pottery

Boris is an ex-gangster who has seen a thing or two. His beak has been pummelled following many fights and his face shows the scars of a hard life. A Martin brothers inspired grotesque sculpture of a wally bird made in high fired stoneware by Burslem pottery. Designed by Andrew Hull. Martin Brothers produced pottery between 1873 and1914, Martinware was described as art pottery, one of the earliest potteries making this, but in modern terms they fit better into studio pottery which was invented later.
