Bottle kilns were typical of the industrial landscape mostly built in the 18th and 19th centuries their association with Stoke on Trent reflects the fact that the British ceramics industry was mainly based in the city. Nothing depicts the potteries better than a bottle kiln, there were hundreds around Stoke on Trent.
