Charles I King of England, King of Scotland and King of Ireland from March 1625 until his execution in 1649. Embellished in gold. A Martin Brothers inspired grotesque sculpture of a wally bird, made in high fired stoneware, by Burslem pottery. Designed by Andrew Hull. Martin Brothers produced pottery between 1873 and1914, Martinware was described as art pottery, one of the earliest potteries making this, but in modern terms they fit better into studio pottery which was invented later.
