Claude Inspired by Martin Brothers pottery

Claude is an evil crab who takes great pleasure in playing with passing fish torturing them into a frenzy of worry. A Martin brothers inspired grotesque sculpture of a crab. Made by Burslem Pottery in high fired stoneware. Designed by Andrew Hull. Martin Brothers produced pottery between 1873 and1914, Martinware was described as art pottery, one of the earliest potteries making this, but in modern terms they fit better into studio pottery which was invented later.
