Clerk Inspired by the Martin Brothers hi

The Clerk forms part of the court room range. The stern Clerk who is the eyes and ears for the court grimly looks on from below the judge. Will he have any bearing on the outcome. A Martin brothers inspired grotesque sculpture of a wally bird. Made in high fired stoneware by Burslem pottery. Designed by Andrew Hull. Martin Brothers produced pottery between 1873 and1914, Martinware was described as art pottery, one of the earliest potteries making this, but in modern terms they fit better into studio pottery which was invented later.
