It shows the well known sculpture of the Man of Fire and the Odeon cinema. Hanley was an important manufacturer of china and earthenware from the 18th century onwards, the kilns and smokestacks are seen working at full blast. It is well placed for transit purposes, quiet close to the Cauldon branch of the Trent and Mersey canal, and occupies a healthy situation upon an eminence overlooking the whole district.  Since 1910 along with the other potteries towns, it as been subsumed in the borough of Stoke on Trent but still important commercial and ceramic centre. Nowadays the town boasts the large shopping centre and the cities cultural quarter with two splendidly refurbished theatres, The Regent and Victoria hall. Designed by Steve Shaw.
