This tile is of Mow Cop Castle. This magical building was built as a folly in 1754 by Randle Wilbraham of Rode Hall, the area around the castle had been used since the iron age to quarry mill stones for use in watermills. Excavations at Mow Cop have found querns dating back to the Iron age. The castle was given to the National trust in 1937. the same year 10,000 Methodists met on the hill to commemorate the first Primitive Methodist camp meeting there. The ridge on which it sits forms the boundary between two counties of Cheshire and Staffordshire.
